Rebekah’s drumming career began aged 11 when she played at her first National Pipe Band Champs. Achieving a Pipe Band Scholarship for St Andrews College saw the family move to Christchurch for Rebekah to pursue her passion. With the school band she won several national titles and a 5th and 2nd at World Pipe Band Champs in Glasgow in 2015 and 2018. While gaining a science degree from Canterbury Uni, Rebekah kept competing and has been the NZ Solo Drumming Champ since 2020. This Grant means Rebekah can accept the invitation to join the Scottish Power Pipe Band in Scotland amongst the world’s best. She wants to bring her skill and knowledge back to NZ to teach and inspire the next generation, just as her Dad inspired and taught her.
